▹ ▹ILLUMINATION: PRODUCTS GARDASOFT TIMING CONTROLLER ILLUMINATION > > Gardasoft timing controller ‒ application examples The CC320 is a highly flexible timing controller, ideal for numerous machine vision triggering and synchronising applications; below are a few examples of the application of the CC320. Delayed Signal mode (timing) Delayed output following the detection of products – based on timing A sensor detects product presence, these products are evenly spaced on a guided rail. There are two cameras which need to take an image after different delays. The leading edge of sensor 1 is used as the trigger: ■■ OP1 triggers camera 1 after 100 ms ■■ OP2 triggers camera 2 after 200 ms Delayed signal mode (counting) Delayed output following the detection of products – based on movement On a conveyor with an encoder, a sensor detects product presence. There are two cameras which need to take an image at fixed distances along the belt. The camera trigger pulses must be fixed width for exposure control. The trailing edge of sensor 1 is used as the trigger. OP1 triggers the first camera after 2000 encoder counts. OP2 triggers the second camera after 4000 encoder counts. By using encoders even if the conveyor changes speed the image will be captured correctly. Pulse burst mode Multiple outputs are required from one trigger signal In this example a sensor on IP1 detects product presence. Four images need to be taken from one camera using four different lights at 40 ms intervals. OP1, OP2, OP3, OP4 are used to output triggers to turn on the four lights in sequence. OP5 is used to trigger the camera four times. OP1 to OP4 are pulsed for 40 ms in sequence. As each one is pulsed, OP5 is also pulsed for a short time to trigger the camera. FIFO mode A FIFO shift register function for reject synchronisation At the end of the belt a reject gate is connected to OP2. The timing for the reject gate must be synchronised to the original sensor, not to when the image processing gives a pass/fail. There might be multiple products between the sensor and reject gate. All of them need to be tracked. Tracking can be done using an encoder or second reject position sensor. Tag IDs for triggers can be used to link the processing results to the right part. ▹ ▹ILLUMINATION: PRODUCTS GARDASOFT VCT/VTR SERIES ILLUMINATION > > Gardasoft traffic LED strobe lights The Gardasoft Vision VCT and VTR series are designed primarily for use in traffic applications with the ability to illuminate whole vehicles from long working distances. In conjunction with suitable machine vision software it is not only possible to read license plates, but also to solve other traffic related applications such as differentiation between vehicle type (car, truck, motor cycle, etc) or manufacturer and model. VCT6 illuminators are the standard product from Gardasoft. Available in both board level and housed version they include all of the necessary LED driving functionality and full networking connectivity. While the board level version is ideal for direct integration into OEM systems the housed level version is specially manufactured to meet the ruggedized demands for mobile and vehicle mounting. The VTR series housed illumination extends the light intensity for static customer specific applications requiring very high-power output. Below is a summary of Gardasoft LED strobes lights, complete with enclosures, suitable for traffic applications. More details are available on request.
