▹ ▹ILLUMINATION: PRODUCTS CCS NATURAL WHITE LIGHT ILLUMINATION > > CCS natural white light LED products Although it is often assumed that daylight is simply white, it is very difficult to replace natural sunlight by artificial light sources, due to differences in spectral content. Natural light contains a broad mix of spectra, while artificial light sources mix RGB in very narrow bands. CCS natural light illumination use specially developed LEDs with a broad spectral component that is very close to daylight. During the life of this handbook CCS plans to extend the range of products using their natural white light LEDs, and can also provide custom options on request. ■■ CCS ring light "natural white light" The very bright CNR-110NW is an LED ring light using CCS natural white light LEDs. It's a perfect solution for microscopy, but also for imaging applications such as print inspection. It is ideally suited for colour inspection where colour temperature and spectral output of the light source are critical. At 35,000 lux the illumination has a colour temperature of 5000 K, that is close to sunlight. Sunlight For microscopy applications that require continuous human observation, natural white light illumination reduces stress on the human eye, as it closely corresponds to daylight. In addition its excellent colour rendering makes it ideal for critical laboratory experiments, achieving a rendering index of Ra98, compared to a standard white LED illumination which scores Ra74. Reduced short wave transmission also makes the CNR-110NW better for long-term human use. CCS natural white LEDs Standard white LEDs The graphs show the spectral curve of natural sunlight and CCS natural white LEDs versus a standard white LED and emphasise the improved spectral coverage. Model Voltage Dimensions (Ø/height) Colour CNR-110NW 24 V / 5.7 W 110 / 28 Natural white Other models on request. ▹ ▹ILLUMINATION: PRODUCTS CCS POWER SUPPLIES ILLUMINATION > > CCS power supplies for LED illuminators PD2 digital control units The PD2 series are designed specifically for use with the CCS range of LED lights and provide enhanced performance compared with analogue power supplies. The PD2 series provides a stable, repeatable voltage with the possibility of controlling the relative pulse duty (PWM) and intensity with a repeatable and accurate coarse/fine adjustment. PD3 digital control units The digital controlled PD3 series combines the features of a number of different power supplies and controllers in one extremely versatile device. Illuminators using the PD3 power supply can be driven in continuous mode, or using an external trigger input in on/off mode, or strobe mode. The power supply features pulse width modulation (PWM) at a frequency of 125 kHz along with 256 levels of light intensity and 10 different lighting times (10 µs - 80 µs - 120 µs - 200 µs - 600 µs - 1 ms - 4 ms - 10 ms - 20 ms - 40 ms). A digital display and a scroll button enable simple and intuitive set-up. Three versions of PD3 are available: one with Ethernet interface, one with EIA-485 interface and one for parallel operation. All PD3 are also available with 4 and 8 channels. PSB analogue power supplies The PSB series are an analogue power supply series providing stepless intensity control using variable voltage control. These power supplies are ideal for continuous use with cameras with shutter speeds of 1/4,000 s or faster. The PSB are also available with different input and output voltage. Special power supplies for HLND-/HSL-/HLV2-illumination For best results, the HLND, HSL and HLV2 illumination require special power supply units, as listed below.
